Les Voiles de l'Espoir brings 80 young cancer survivors to Monaco

By Zak Jackson, MonacoViews Editorial

A flotilla of 40 sailing boats carrying around 80 children in remission from cancer made a stopover in Monaco this week as part of a seven-day Mediterranean voyage.

Les Voiles de l'Espoir, the Sails of Hope initiative, arrived in the Principality this week as part of its seven-day Mediterranean voyage, bringing with it around 80 young participants, all children in remission from cancer. The flotilla of 40 sailing boats gave the young sailors a chance to step away from the routines of treatment and recovery and experience the sea together.

The stopover in Monaco forms part of a broader journey along the Mediterranean coast, with the Principality's port providing a natural and fitting host for an initiative rooted in the maritime world. For the children on board, the voyage is as much about rebuilding confidence and creating shared memories as it is about sailing.
