IMSEE report: Monaco's maritime economy holds steady

By Zak Jackson, MonacoViews Editorial

Monaco's statistics institute IMSEE reports continued strength in the maritime economy, with the yachting sub-sector showing particularly dynamic growth.

The Institut Monégasque de la Statistique et des Études Économiques has published its latest assessment of the Principality's maritime economy, confirming that turnover, company numbers and employment in the sector have held firm. Yachting emerges as the standout performer within the broader maritime cluster, with the report pointing to particularly strong momentum in this sub-sector compared with other maritime activities.

For a territory where the harbour and its surrounding businesses, from brokerage houses to refit specialists, form a significant part of the local economy, the figures matter beyond the marina itself. Port Hercule and the wider yachting ecosystem support jobs that ripple into surveying, insurance, crewing agencies and the luxury services that cluster around Monaco's waterfront.

IMSEE's report arrives as Monaco continues to position itself as a hub for superyacht ownership and management, a status reinforced annually by the Monaco Yacht Show. The data will be watched closely by businesses operating in and around the port, as well as by the government as it considers future investment in maritime infrastructure.
