IHO in Monaco begins new era under Sinapi as chief

The Monaco-based International Hydrographic Organization has entered a new phase with Rear Admiral Luigi Sinapi taking over as Secretary-General.
Rear Admiral Luigi Sinapi began his three-year mandate as Secretary-General of the International Hydrographic Organization on 1 September, taking the helm of the Monaco-headquartered body that sets global standards for nautical charting and maritime safety.
Adam Greenland has also joined the organisation in a director role as part of the incoming leadership team. Together they are expected to push forward a programme of digital transformation and broaden the IHO's operational reach internationally.
The IHO is one of a small number of international organisations with its headquarters in the Principality, based near the port. A change at the top of such a body carries weight beyond Monaco's borders, given the organisation's role in coordinating hydrographic data used by shipping and naval authorities worldwide, but it also underlines Monaco's continuing standing as host to specialised international institutions.
