Government, Palais and mairie sites offline after cyber alert

By Zak Jackson, MonacoViews Editorial

Government, Palais princier and mairie websites in Monaco went offline on Wednesday evening following a global cyber alert from French agency CERT-FR.

On Wednesday evening, several official Monaco websites were placed into maintenance mode, among them the portal of the Prince's Government, the site of the Mairie de Monaco and the Palais princier's own page. Visitors attempting to reach these platforms found them temporarily inaccessible, with no immediate indication of when normal service would resume.

The shutdown followed a warning from CERT-FR, the French computer emergency response team, which identified critical vulnerabilities in a programming language widely used across the internet. The flaw is described as significant enough to affect a broad range of systems globally, prompting precautionary action rather than confirmation of any specific breach in Monaco.

For residents and businesses who rely on these portals for administrative services, from municipal paperwork to government announcements, the outage is a reminder of how interconnected digital infrastructure has become even for a jurisdiction as small as the Principality. Those with pending matters through the Mairie or the Government's online services may need to wait for the sites to return before resuming their transactions, with updates expected once the vulnerability has been addressed.
