Flu vaccination campaign now open across Monaco

By Zak Jackson, MonacoViews Editorial

Monaco's health authorities have opened this year's flu vaccination campaign, urging residents in high-risk categories to get immunised without delay.

The annual flu vaccination campaign is now underway in the Principality, with health authorities encouraging eligible residents to book their jab as soon as possible rather than waiting until winter sets in.

Vaccination is strongly recommended for anyone under 65 living with a chronic illness, pregnant women, and people affected by obesity. It also applies to residents of any age staying in a convalescent care facility or a medico-social residential institution, as these settings carry a higher risk of transmission.

A further group singled out by the campaign is anyone living in close contact with an infant under six months old who faces a risk of severe flu, for example due to premature birth, a congenital heart condition or a neurological disorder. Pharmacies and GPs across Monaco can advise on eligibility and administer the vaccine, and residents who fall into any of these categories are being asked not to delay before flu season takes hold.
