Crovetto family asks Prince Albert to banish attacker

The Crovetto family has petitioned Prince Albert II to strip the nationality of the man who stabbed their daughter 34 times in Monaco in 2022.
The Crovetto family has written to Prince Albert II asking the Sovereign to strip Jean-Charles Mulini of his Monégasque nationality or banish him from the Principality once his prison term ends. Their daughter survived an attempted murder in 2022 when her then partner stabbed her 34 times, an attack that shocked residents across Monaco at the time.
Mulini was convicted in May 2026 and sentenced to 19 years' criminal detention. He is currently held at the Maison d'Arrêt in Monaco, the Principality's own prison facility on the Rocher.
The family's request now rests with the Prince's Palace, since decisions on nationality and residency status fall under sovereign authority in Monaco rather than the ordinary courts. Such petitions are rare and the case is likely to draw attention to how Monaco handles nationality questions tied to serious criminal convictions.
