Courthouse conference tackles corruption prevention

By Zak Jackson, MonacoViews Editorial

Legal experts from Monaco and France gathered at the Palais de Justice to examine how corruption is identified, prevented and punished.

The Palais de Justice hosted a conference on Tuesday examining the fight against corruption, organised by the Monegasque Institute for Training in Judicial Professions. Four speakers drawn from legal circles in Monaco and France addressed the warning signs that precede corrupt practices and the mechanisms available to detect and prosecute them.

The session forms part of ongoing efforts by Monaco's judicial training body to keep legal professionals abreast of best practice in an area that carries particular weight for a jurisdiction built on financial services, property transactions and international business. For residents and professionals working across law, finance and real estate in the Principality, sessions of this kind feed directly into the compliance standards that shape everyday dealings with notaries, banks and public administration.

While the institute has not detailed specific cases discussed during the conference, the event underlines Monaco's continued attention to governance standards at a time when the Principality faces ongoing scrutiny from international bodies over financial transparency.
