Contemporary art trail links Monaco, Beausoleil and Menton

By Zak Jackson, MonacoViews Editorial

The free Visiteurs du soir festival brings contemporary art to Monaco, Beausoleil and Menton on 2 and 3 October as part of European Heritage Days.

A free contemporary art trail opens across the border region this weekend, with the Visiteurs du soir festival running on 2 and 3 October as part of the European Heritage Days programme. The route takes in venues in Monaco, Beausoleil and Menton, giving visitors a chance to explore contemporary works alongside the architecture and heritage sites usually spotlighted during the annual Journées du patrimoine.

For residents on both sides of the border, the festival offers an easy way to see how the three towns are linking their cultural offerings, an increasingly common approach as Monaco, Beausoleil and Menton coordinate more closely on tourism and culture. With no entry charge, organisers are hoping to draw both regular gallery-goers and those who might not otherwise attend a contemporary art event.

The timing alongside the Journées européennes du patrimoine means the festival benefits from the wider audience that heritage weekend traditionally attracts in the region, when historic buildings and institutions open their doors to the public.
