A Chinese diplomatic delegation has visited Monaco for high-level bilateral trade and economic talks, the first such formal exchange in more than 13 years.
A Chinese diplomatic delegation arrived in Monaco on Saturday 23 May for bilateral talks covering economic and commercial cooperation, marking a significant resumption of formal dialogue between the two states after a break of more than 13 years.
The delegation met with Frédéric Cottalorda, Minister of Finance and the Economy, alongside other institutional representatives and local business figures. The breadth of the meetings suggests both sides are keen to move beyond a symbolic restart and into practical discussions on trade and investment ties.
For Monaco's business community, the timing is notable. The Principality has been actively diversifying its international economic relationships, and re-engaging with China at this level opens potential channels for trade, finance and inward interest from one of the world's largest economies. Further details on any agreements or follow-up mechanisms are expected to be confirmed by the government in the coming days.
