Ballets de Monte-Carlo to revive Ma Bayadère this festive season

By Zak Jackson, MonacoViews Editorial

Jean-Christophe Maillot's Ma Bayadère returns to the Grimaldi Forum for five performances over the end-of-year festivities.

The Ballets de Monte-Carlo will bring back Ma Bayadère, the company's most recent creation from choreographer Jean-Christophe Maillot, for a five-night run this December. The production made a strong impression on audiences when it premiered last festive season and the decision to revive it so quickly reflects both public demand and the company's confidence in the work.

For residents and visitors planning their cultural calendar, the run represents one of the headline events of Monaco's end-of-year programme. Maillot's reinterpretation of the classical Bayadère narrative has been central to the Ballets de Monte-Carlo's recent output, and five performances gives the production a more substantial run than a typical seasonal revival.
