AS Monaco held 2-2 by Cercle Bruges in La Turbie friendly

Filipe Luis's side fought back from two goals down but could not find a winner against their Belgian satellite club at the La Turbie performance centre.

AS Monaco's pre-season preparations hit a bump on Friday as they were held to a 2-2 draw by Cercle Bruges at the club's La Turbie performance centre. The match, their third friendly of the summer, saw the Monegasques face a side they own as a satellite club, making the failure to win all the more pointed.

Filipe Luis's men did show character in recovering from a two-goal deficit, but the performance raised questions about the team's ability to create genuine chances and break down a well-organised defence. Despite enjoying the majority of possession, Monaco struggled to produce the kind of incisive play that turns pressure into goals.

With the new Ligue 1 season approaching, the result will give the coaching staff clear areas to work on before competitive football resumes. La Turbie remains the base for the squad's fitness and tactical work throughout the pre-season camp.
