Baby Anna becomes Monaco's 10,000th national, Charlène visits

Anna Ella Carlevaris, born in June at Princess Grace Hospital, has become Monaco's 10,000th national, a threefold increase in the nationality over 75 years.

Anna Ella Carlevaris was born on 15 June 2026 at the Centre Hospitalier Princesse Grace, and her arrival marks a demographic milestone for the Principality. She is the 10,000th person to hold Monegasque nationality, a figure that has tripled over the past 75 years as the state's population of nationals has grown alongside its wider resident community.

Princess Charlène visited the family to mark the occasion, and Anna's parents described the moment she held their daughter. "When Princess Charlène held my little one, I felt a very strong maternal instinct," the mother said, recalling the visit with evident pride.

The milestone reflects slow but steady growth in the number of Monegasque citizens, a figure closely watched given its implications for housing allocation, state benefits and the balance between nationals and the Principality's much larger population of foreign residents. For many Monegasque families, each new addition to this relatively small group carries both personal and civic significance.
