AS Monaco have officially ended their association with Paul Pogba, the 2018 World Cup winner who joined the club in June 2025 on a two-year deal. Repeated injuries meant the former Juventus midfielder was never able to string matches together or recapture the form that once made him one of the most sought-after players in the game.
The timing is notable. The announcement comes on the eve of the club's first competitive fixture of the 2026-27 season, a Conference League play-off first leg away at Górnik Zabrze in Poland on Thursday evening. With European progression the immediate priority, the squad moves forward without a player who, despite his profile, contributed little on the pitch during his time at Stade Louis II.
For Monaco supporters, Pogba's spell will be remembered as one that never got started. The hope when he arrived was that the Principality could provide the platform for a genuine comeback. Instead, the medical room proved a more familiar destination than the starting eleven.
