AS Monaco juniors train with Barshim and Harrison ahead of Athletics Festival

A group of around ten young high jumpers from AS Monaco Athlétisme got an unusual Tuesday morning session on 4 August, coached by Mutaz Barshim and JuVaughn Harrison in the build-up to the Monaco Athletics Festival.

Barshim, the Qatari Olympic champion, and Harrison, one of the United States' leading high jump talents, took time before their own competition preparations to work directly with the club's junior athletes. For young Monaco-based athletes, the access was rare: technical instruction from two of the best practitioners of the discipline in the world, the day before they competed at the highest level.

The Monaco Athletics Festival, held on 5 August, is one of the highlights of the Principality's summer sporting calendar, drawing elite track and field athletes to the Stade Louis II. The training session underlines the Festival's role not just as a spectator event but as a point of connection between Monaco's own sporting development programme and the international circuit.
