AS Monaco Basket has been without competitive activity since being refused engagement in the N1 division, and the club's prospects have now worsened further with the withdrawal of its new majority shareholder. Club officials are understood to be preparing for a formal declaration of cessation of payments, a step that would mark the effective end of the Roca Team as a sporting entity.
The collapse brings to a close more than a decade in which the club competed at the top level of French and European basketball, drawing crowds to the Rocher and building a following well beyond the Principality's borders.
