A500 tunnel closed both directions after accident

An accident on the A500 has closed the Monaco tunnel in both directions, halting traffic completely on Monday morning.
Traffic through the A500 tunnel came to a complete halt on Monday 28 September after an accident closed the route in both directions. The tunnel, which links Fontvieille to the eastern side of the Principality and carries much of the through traffic that would otherwise clog surface streets, is a key artery for commuters moving between Monaco and the French communes to the west.
With both directions blocked, drivers should expect significant delays and diversions onto surface roads including Boulevard Albert 1er and Avenue Président J.F. Kennedy. Anyone travelling into or through Monaco this morning would be wise to allow extra time or consider alternative routes until the tunnel reopens.
