Sixteen under-12 players from the Monaco Rugby Federation visited the SPA Monaco shelter, donating a motorised wheelbarrow and learning about animal welfare.
Sixteen players from the Monaco Rugby Federation's under-12 squad traded their usual training session for a morning at the SPA Monaco animal shelter, where they learned how the charity cares for abandoned and stray animals across the Principality. The visit gave the young players a chance to see first-hand the daily work involved in running the shelter, from feeding and exercising the animals to maintaining the facility.
The team arrived with a practical gift rather than a symbolic one: a motorised wheelbarrow to help staff move feed and equipment around the site more easily. It is the kind of donation that makes a direct difference to a charity that relies heavily on volunteer effort and public goodwill to keep running.
The squad is currently training for the Sainte Dévote rugby tournament, due to take place in March 2027, one of the fixtures on the youth rugby calendar in Monaco. Pairing that preparation with a morning spent supporting SPA Monaco reflects a wider effort among local sports clubs to link youth development with community engagement, giving young players a sense of responsibility beyond the pitch.
