Yacht Club de Monaco hosts Energy Boat Challenge in July

By Zak Jackson, MonacoViews Editorial

The Yacht Club de Monaco stages its annual Energy Boat Challenge this July, drawing student teams, engineers and marine industry figures to compete on sustainable propulsion.

The Yacht Club de Monaco returns as host of the Monaco Energy Boat Challenge this July, bringing together university teams, naval engineers and researchers from across the world to test zero-emission and alternative-fuel boat designs on the waters off Fontvieille and the port approaches.

Now firmly established on the international marine technology calendar, the four-day event pits competing vessels against each other across a series of trials designed to push hydrogen, solar and electric propulsion systems to their limits. For the Yacht Club, it doubles as a platform to position Monaco at the centre of debates about where recreational and competitive boating is heading.

For residents and property owners along the waterfront, the Challenge brings noticeable activity around Port Hercule and the surrounding coastal zone during the event days. Spectators can follow racing from the quayside, and the Yacht Club typically opens technical briefings and exhibition areas to registered visitors throughout the week.
