Ukraine's General Prosecutor's Office has reached out directly to reassure Monaco's judicial authorities, signalling a reset in relations after weeks of tension surrounding the investigation into a parcel bomb detonated in the Principality. The outreach follows the resignation last weekend of the Kyiv prosecutor who had been leading the Ukrainian side of the inquiry, a departure that left Monaco's investigators wrong-footed.
Throughout the summer, Monaco's investigative team found themselves repeatedly blindsided as evidence and case details were leaked publicly without prior notification. That pattern strained working relations between the two jurisdictions and complicated the inquiry at every turn. The Ukrainian side's renewed contact, which emphasised good relations with Monaco authorities, appears designed to draw a line under that difficult period.
Monaco's judicial authorities are now expressing cautious optimism, with prosecutors here hoping the investigation will move forward in a coordinated fashion. Whether the change in tone translates into a genuine change in operational practice remains to be seen, but the signal from Kyiv is markedly more conciliatory than anything offered during the months prior.
