Ukraine military intelligence denies Monaco assassination plot role

Ukraine's GUR has formally rejected any involvement in the 29 June attempted assassination of businessman Vadim Ermolaev in Monaco, calling the accusations manipulation and appealing for witnesses.
Ukraine's military intelligence agency, the GUR, has publicly denied any role in the attempted assassination of Vadim Ermolaev, the businessman who was targeted in an explosion in Monaco on 29 June. The agency described the accusations against it as deliberate manipulation and issued a call for anyone with relevant information to come forward to investigators handling the case.
Ermolaev, a figure with reported ties to both Ukrainian and Russian business circles, survived the attack, which drew immediate attention from Monaco's judicial and security authorities. The incident was one of the most serious public security events in the Principality in recent years, and the question of who ordered it remains under active investigation.
The GUR's intervention adds a significant geopolitical dimension to what is already a complex case. By going on the record to refute the claims attributed to Ermolaev, Ukrainian military intelligence is signalling that it regards the accusations as a deliberate attempt to implicate Kyiv. Monaco's judicial authorities have not publicly named any suspects, and the investigation is ongoing.
