The Yacht Club de Monaco's two William Fife-designed classics have crossed the Atlantic to join New York's celebrations marking 250 years of American independence.
Tuiga and Viola, the Yacht Club de Monaco's most recognised classic yachts, are in New York this summer as part of a sailing programme tied to the 250th anniversary of the United States Declaration of Independence. Both vessels made the crossing aboard cargo ships before being prepared for a season of events on American waters.
The two William Fife-designed boats are among the most storied in the Yacht Club de Monaco's fleet. Tuiga, built in 1909, serves as the club's flagship and has long been central to Monaco's presence at classic regattas across the Mediterranean and beyond. Viola, also a Fife design, adds to what is a rare and historically significant pairing.
For Monaco's sailing community, the deployment of both yachts to the same programme is an unusual move and underlines the weight the Yacht Club de Monaco places on the American anniversary. Residents and members following the summer calendar will find both boats absent from their usual berth at Port Hercule until their return later in the season.
