The Alpes-Maritimes towns with the wealthiest taxpayers

New data from France's Ministry of Economy reveals which Alpes-Maritimes towns are home to the region's highest-earning taxpayers, with Monaco and Villefranche-sur-Mer among the top ten.
The Côte d'Azur has long had a reputation for wealth, but fresh figures from the French Ministry of Economy and Finance put some numbers behind that perception. A new ranking of the ten wealthiest taxpayer communities in the Alpes-Maritimes department places Monaco and Villefranche-sur-Mer at the upper end of the list, confirming what many along this stretch of coastline already suspect.
The Alpes-Maritimes consistently ranks among the most affluent departments in France, and the ministry data underlines just how concentrated that prosperity can be at the local level. For residents and property observers in the Principality, the figures add further context to the persistent demand for addresses on and around the French Riviera, where proximity to Monaco continues to carry a premium.
Villefranche-sur-Mer, a short drive along the Corniche from the Principality, has attracted buyers priced out of Monaco itself or seeking a quieter pace while remaining within easy reach of the border. Its appearance alongside Monaco in this ranking reflects a broader pattern of wealth clustering along this particular arc of coastline.
