Taxi Monaco app clocks 21,000 rides in its first year

By Zak Jackson, MonacoViews Editorial

The Taxi Monaco app has completed more than 21,000 journeys and been downloaded 36,000 times across 154 countries in its first twelve months.

A year after its launch, the Taxi Monaco app has posted figures that confirm it has found a firm footing in the Principality's transport habits. More than 21,000 rides have been completed through the platform, with over 7,000 individual passengers using it at least once. The app has been downloaded more than 36,000 times in 154 countries, a reach that reflects both resident uptake and visitors arriving with it already installed.

In 2026 so far, app-booked rides account for more than 10 per cent of all taxi journeys in Monaco, rising to 15 per cent of trips made by private clients. iPhone users dominate the platform heavily, making up 89 per cent of the user base against 11 per cent on Android. Integrated in-app payment has been available since day one and continues to be a draw for passengers who prefer a cashless, receipt-free transaction.

For residents and regular visitors, the numbers suggest the app is becoming a genuine alternative to kerb-hailing or phone bookings. The government-backed platform sits alongside Monaco's existing licensed taxi fleet rather than replacing it, giving passengers a digital layer on top of a service that has long been tightly regulated in the Principality.
