Stray weasel rescued in Monaco and released

By Laurent Duval, MonacoViews Editorial

A weasel found loose on Place du Canton was taken in by the Jardin Animalier Rainier III before being safely released back into the wild.

A weasel turned up unexpectedly on Place du Canton in Monaco, prompting a rescue operation by staff from the Jardin Animalier Rainier III. The animal was secured and brought to the facility for assessment before being released unharmed.

The Jardin Animalier Rainier III shared the story on its Facebook page, describing the encounter as an unusual find in the heart of the Principality. Weasels are native to the region but rarely seen in Monaco's urban centre, making this a notable, if brief, visit to one of the Fontvieille district's quieter squares.
