Stamp Museum charts history of communication until September

A new exhibition at the Musée des Timbres et des Monnaies in Fontvieille traces the evolution of transport and communication through philatelic history, running until 27 September 2026.
The Musée des Timbres et des Monnaies at the Terrasses de Fontvieille is hosting a new exhibition, 'Voyage au fil du timbre', from 11 May to 27 September 2026. The show takes visitors from the earliest postal messengers travelling on foot or horseback through to the communications technologies of the present day.
Stamps form the backbone of the narrative, used here as historical documents rather than collectors' curiosities. Each one reflects a shift in how people, goods and ideas moved across borders - from the expansion of railway networks to the growth of international trade and the gradual shrinking of the world through faster, more connected transport systems.
For residents and visitors with time to spare in Fontvieille, the exhibition offers a genuinely absorbing afternoon. The Terrasses complex is accessible on foot from central Monaco, and the museum itself is compact enough to explore thoroughly without rushing.
