SMEAUX asks residents to shape Monaco's water strategy

The Société Monégasque des Eaux has launched a public consultation to gather resident feedback on water use and long-term sustainability planning.
The Société Monégasque des Eaux (SMEAUX) has opened a public consultation inviting Monaco residents to share their views on water consumption habits and expectations for future supply and sustainability. The initiative runs in coordination with the Princely Government's broader environmental objectives and marks a formal step towards a revised long-term water strategy for the Principality.
Climate pressure on water resources across the Mediterranean region has added urgency to the exercise. Residents are being asked to provide feedback on how they use water at home, their awareness of conservation measures already in place, and what they expect from public water services going forward. The findings will feed into SMEAUX's planning process and inform decisions on infrastructure, pricing and demand management.
For the roughly 38,000 people living within Monaco's 2.02 square kilometres, water supply is a matter of practical importance rather than abstract policy. Participation in the consultation is open to all residents, and SMEAUX has indicated that responses will directly influence the shape of the strategy before it is finalised.
