Royals join 800 Monegasques for U Cavagnëtu picnic

Prince Albert II, Princess Charlene and their children attended the annual U Cavagnëtu gathering at Parc Princesse Antoinette on Saturday.
Parc Princesse Antoinette played host on Saturday to one of the Monegasque calendar's most cherished traditions, as around 800 Monegasques gathered for the annual U Cavagnëtu picnic. Prince Albert II and Princess Charlene joined the community alongside Hereditary Prince Jacques and Princess Gabriella, sharing in an afternoon of music, dance and food.
U Cavagnëtu is a distinctly local celebration, rooted in Monegasque dialect and culture, and the presence of the Princely family reinforces its standing as a genuine community occasion rather than a ceremonial formality. For residents, it remains one of the rare moments when the Principality's compact population gathers informally in one place.
Parc Princesse Antoinette, situated above the Fontvieille district, provides a natural setting for the event, with its gardens and open lawns well suited to a large outdoor gathering. The tradition continues to draw strong attendance year on year, with Saturday's figures consistent with previous editions.
