The French Basketball Federation's appeal committee met on Monday 20 July and declined to issue an immediate verdict on AS Monaco Basket's licence application for the 2026-27 Betclic Élite season. The Roca Team, three-time reigning French champions, now has until 27 July to submit the outstanding financial documentation required to validate the proposed takeover by Helen Holdings.
If the dossier remains incomplete by that deadline, the club will be barred from competing in France's top-flight basketball division next season. The outcome matters well beyond the Gaston Médecin arena: Roca Team sits at the heart of Monaco's sporting identity, and its absence from Betclic Élite would represent a serious blow to the Principality's broader ambitions as a professional sports hub.
Helen Holdings has been working to formalise the acquisition for some weeks, but the committee's decision to reserve judgement signals that key financial guarantees have not yet been lodged to the federation's satisfaction. The seven-day window leaves almost no margin for further delays.
