Principality marks 70 years since the Grace Kelly and Prince Rainier III wedding

A special event at the Princess Grace Irish Library launched a year of commemorations marking the landmark royal anniversary.
A year of celebrations honouring the 70th anniversary of the marriage of Princess Grace and Prince Rainier III began on 2 April with a special event at the Princess Grace Irish Library. The commemorative programme opened with a talk by Wolfgang Frei, who offered fresh insights into the couple's enduring legacy.
The 1956 wedding remains one of the most significant moments in Monegasque history, cementing the Principality's place in international culture and public imagination. The anniversary programme is expected to include exhibitions, cultural events and public tributes throughout 2026.
The Princess Grace Irish Library, which preserves the cultural heritage of the late Princess, provided a fitting setting for the launch of what promises to be a landmark year of remembrance.
