Princess Charlène thanks Monaco's street cleaning teams

By Zak Jackson, MonacoViews Editorial

Princess Charlène visited SMA sanitation workers this week to thank them personally for keeping the Principality's streets clean.

Princess Charlène spent time this week with the men and women of the SMA, the company responsible for street cleaning and waste collection across the Principality. The visit took her directly to teams who work early mornings and late shifts to keep pavements, markets and public spaces clear of litter, a job that rarely draws public attention but shapes daily life in every district from Monte-Carlo to Fontvieille.

"A big thank you to all of you for your work every day," the Princess told staff during the visit, according to comments shared following the engagement. For residents who pass these crews on the way to work or walk their dogs along the Larvotto seafront each morning, the gesture recognises a workforce that keeps the Principality's public realm looking the way visitors and residents expect.

The SMA's teams operate across Monaco's dense urban fabric, managing everything from the daily market clean-up at Place d'Armes to refuse collection in the narrow streets of the Rock. Princess Charlène's visit comes as part of a wider pattern of royal engagements that focus on recognising essential workers whose contribution often goes unnoticed in the Principality's public life.
