Princess Charlène leads water safety day for children in Tuscany

By Zak Jackson, MonacoViews Editorial

Princess Charlène visited Viareggio on 17 June 2026 to lead a Water Safety Day for local schoolchildren, organised by her Monaco-based foundation.

On the beach at Viareggio, on the Tuscan coast, Princess Charlène joined schoolchildren from the local commune for a Water Safety Day hosted by the Princess Charlène of Monaco Foundation. The event focused on teaching young participants how to recognise and manage risks in and around water, and how to respond if someone is in difficulty.

Water safety has been a central cause for the Princess since she established her foundation in 2012. The Viareggio session follows a series of similar outreach days held across Europe and Africa, bringing structured swimming and rescue awareness programmes directly into school communities.

For Monaco residents, the event is a reminder that the Foundation continues to operate well beyond the Principality's borders, building on its long-standing partnership with schools and municipalities in the wider Mediterranean region.
