Georges Lukomski, the first permanent official photographer of the Prince's Palace, was laid to rest at Monaco Cathedral on 19 May 2026.
Monaco Cathedral on the Rock hosted the funeral service for Georges Lukomski on Tuesday, with Prince Albert II attending in person to pay his respects to the man who spent decades documenting the Princely Family from the inside.
Born in 1932, Lukomski joined the Palace in 1957 and became its first permanent official photographer, a role that placed him at the centre of the Grimaldi family's most significant public and private moments across nearly seven decades. Few figures in the Principality's recent history had such sustained and intimate access to the institution.
His passing marks the end of an era for the Palace's visual record. Lukomski's archive stands as one of the most comprehensive photographic chronicles of Monaco's royal life in the modern period.
