Prince Albert II has been named an honorary member of the Turin Academy of Agriculture, with the distinction conferred during a ceremony held at the Venaria Reale palace near Turin to mark the academy's 241st anniversary.
The honour recognises the Sovereign's sustained commitment to environmental protection, sustainability and scientific research, causes he has championed through the Prince Albert II of Monaco Foundation since its founding in 2006. The foundation focuses on climate change, biodiversity loss and water scarcity across three geographical zones: the polar regions, the Mediterranean basin and the world's least developed countries.
The Turin Academy of Agriculture, one of Italy's oldest scientific institutions, reserves honorary membership for figures who have made a demonstrable contribution to the fields of agriculture, environmental science and sustainable development. Prince Albert joins a small number of international recipients to have received the distinction.
