Prince Albert II meets Interpol President on security cooperation

By Laurent Duval, MonacoViews Editorial

Prince Albert II received Interpol President Lucas Philippe at an official audience on Friday 15 May, with senior Interpol leadership present for talks on international policing and multilateral security.

Prince Albert II welcomed Lucas Philippe, President of Interpol, to the Palace on Friday 15 May for a formal audience focused on international security challenges facing policing organisations worldwide. The meeting drew in senior figures from Interpol's leadership, including Pierre Lieutaud, Prefect and Chief of Staff, signalling that the discussions went beyond a courtesy call.

For Monaco, the meeting underlines the Principality's active role in international security diplomacy, a position it maintains through its status as a sovereign state with its own police and judicial institutions. Interpol, headquartered in Lyon with a liaison network that extends to member states of all sizes, regards small but strategically placed jurisdictions as relevant partners in cross-border crime prevention.

No formal agreements or joint communiqués were announced following the audience, though the presence of senior Interpol staff suggests substantive exchanges on areas such as financial crime intelligence and border security, both of particular relevance to Monaco.
