The Fairmont Monte Carlo hosted the closing gala of the 81st CISM General Assembly on 7th May, where Prince Albert II and Princess Charlene received formal recognition.
The Fairmont Monte Carlo brought the curtain down on a week of international sporting diplomacy on Thursday 7th May, as the closing gala of the 81st General Assembly of the International Military Sports Council (CISM) drew delegates from across the globe to the Principality.
Prince Albert II and Princess Charlene were formally honoured during the evening's ceremony, marking the Principality's role as host to one of the military sporting world's most significant annual gatherings. The week had combined high-level institutional meetings with a broader programme of events reflecting CISM's mission to promote sport among armed forces worldwide.
For Monaco, hosting the CISM General Assembly underlines the Principality's standing as a venue for serious international diplomacy, not just the commercial and cultural events it more regularly attracts. The recognition afforded to the Princely couple reflects their active engagement with the week's proceedings rather than a ceremonial presence alone.
