Monaco's Sovereign and Government Counsellor held separate meetings with Council of Europe officials in Strasbourg as the Principality's presidency term concludes.
Prince Albert II and Isabelle Berro-Amadeï, Monaco's Government Counsellor and Minister of External Relations and Cooperation, both visited the Council of Europe's headquarters in Strasbourg this week for high-level meetings with the organisation's leadership. Berro-Amadeï met with the President of the Parliamentary Assembly and the Secretary General on Wednesday morning, whilst the Sovereign was formally welcomed by Petra Bayr, President of the Parliamentary Assembly, on Thursday.
These visits represent a diplomatic stock-take as Monaco's rotating presidency of the Committee of Ministers draws to a close. The Principality's six-month tenure has placed its diplomatic priorities—spanning human rights to environmental cooperation—at the centre of the Council of Europe's agenda, with symbolic importance for a state of Monaco's size.
The successive visits by both the Government Counsellor and the Sovereign underscore Monaco's commitment to its role within the organisation and its engagement with multilateral governance during this significant period.
