Port Hercule incident triggers public prosecutor inquiry

Monaco's public prosecutor has opened a formal investigation after footage of a couple engaging in a sexual act on Quai Antoine-Ier circulated widely on social media.
At around 04:00 on the night of Saturday 29 to Sunday 30 August, a couple was filmed having sex in public on Quai Antoine-Ier at Port Hercule, beneath the Stars of Monaco installation. Videos of the incident were subsequently shared widely via WhatsApp, prompting a swift response from the authorities.
Monaco's public prosecutor has since opened a formal investigation into the matter. Public indecency carries criminal exposure under Monegasque law, and the circulation of the footage raises additional questions around the recording and distribution of the material without consent.
The location is one of the most visible stretches of Monaco's waterfront, heavily frequented by residents, yacht crews and visitors throughout the summer season. The investigation is ongoing.
