Police probe five watch thefts during Monaco Grand Prix

By Zak Jackson, MonacoViews Editorial

Five incidents involving high-end watches were recorded across the Grand Prix weekend, with judicial authorities now investigating the cases.

Five separate theft and attempted theft incidents involving luxury watches were reported to authorities during the Formula One Grand Prix weekend, with judicial officials now leading investigations into the cases. The incidents are linked to visitors present in the Principality during one of its busiest annual events.

The Grand Prix weekend draws tens of thousands of visitors to Monaco's streets, terraces and hospitality venues, and has historically attracted opportunistic crime alongside its global spectacle. Residents and regular visitors will be aware that the concentration of wealth on public display during race week creates particular security pressures for the Principality's law enforcement.

No further details on arrests or the status of individual cases have been confirmed at this stage. Those who were in Monaco during the Grand Prix weekend and believe they were targeted are advised to contact the Direction de la Sûreté Publique directly.
