PhiloMonaco Week tackles desire, dating apps and disappointment

By Zak Jackson, MonacoViews Editorial

Philosophers, writers and psychiatrists gathered at the Médiathèque Caroline on Friday for a debate on desire as part of the fifth edition of Semaine PhiloMonaco.

The fifth edition of Semaine PhiloMonaco drew philosophers, writers and psychiatrists to the Médiathèque Caroline on Friday 26 June for a wide-ranging table ronde on desire - its role as a driving force in human life and its capacity to generate disappointment. Dating apps featured alongside broader questions of existential disillusionment, reflecting the event's ambition to bring serious intellectual debate to a general audience.

The festival runs until Sunday 28 June, closing out what has become a fixture in Monaco's cultural calendar. Now in its fifth year, PhiloMonaco has built a programme that sits between academic conference and public forum, drawing participants and audiences who might not typically seek out philosophy in a formal setting. For residents looking to catch the remaining sessions before the weekend close, the Médiathèque Caroline on avenue Saint-Martin is the venue to head to.
