Philately show marks Rainier and Grace Kelly wedding

A new exhibition brings together commemorative medals, stamps and first-day covers marking the 1956 royal wedding that put Monaco on the world stage.
An exhibition dedicated to the marriage of Prince Rainier III and Grace Kelly opens this July at a moment when collector interest in Monegasque philately and numismatics remains strong. The show draws on a carefully assembled collection of commemorative medals, postage stamps, first-day covers and souvenir cards produced in the wake of the April 1956 ceremony, objects that now serve as primary documents of one of the most-watched events of the twentieth century.
The wedding drew a global television and radio audience at a time when such reach was genuinely extraordinary, and the volume of commemorative material it generated reflected that scale.
