Orthodox community celebrates successful cultural festival in Monaco

The growing Orthodox community in Monaco marked the conclusion of their annual cultural celebration, highlighting the faith's rise as the second-largest religion in the Principality.

The Orthodox faith has experienced remarkable growth in Monaco, establishing itself as the second-largest religious community in the Principality over recent years. This expanding presence was celebrated through a month-long series of cultural and religious activities that drew strong participation from locals and visitors alike.

The festivities showcased both Orthodox and Russian traditions, reflecting the diverse heritage within Monaco's Orthodox community. This cultural programme builds upon the foundation established by the Russian Orthodox Church of Monaco Association, led by Alexandre Hagerty, which launched the Principality's first Orthodox church with regular weekly services in November 2017.

The success of these celebrations underscores how Monaco's religious landscape continues to diversify, with the Orthodox community finding its place alongside the Principality's established faiths. The positive reception of the month-long programme suggests these cultural events may become a regular feature of Monaco's annual calendar, strengthening ties within the community whilst sharing Orthodox traditions with the broader population.
