New US health declaration rule hits Monaco travellers from Nov 3
By Zak Jackson, MonacoViews Editorial
From Tuesday, November 3, anyone flying from Monaco to the United States must complete a health declaration regarding recent travel to the Democratic Republic of the Congo.
Residents and visitors booking flights to the United States should check their itineraries carefully before next Tuesday. From November 3, airlines will be required to confirm that every passenger travelling to the US, including those connecting through a third country, has completed a health declaration covering recent travel to the Democratic Republic of the Congo.
The requirement applies regardless of nationality or final destination within the US, meaning Monaco-based travellers flying via Nice, Paris or other European hubs will still need to comply before boarding. Airlines handling US-bound routes have been told to verify the declaration at check-in, so passengers who skip the form risk being denied boarding rather than facing issues on arrival.
For the Principality's many frequent flyers, bankers, yacht owners and families with business ties across the Atlantic, the practical advice is simple: build the declaration into pre-flight checks alongside ESTA and passport validity from now on. Travel agents and concierge services in Monaco handling US bookings for the coming weeks should flag the change to clients immediately, as the rule takes effect with little lead time before the November 3 start date.
