National Council backs boost to police resources after blast

Monaco's government and National Council have agreed to strengthen police staffing and technology following the 29 June explosive attack.
During this year's budget debates at the National Council, ministers and elected members reviewed the Principality's crime figures, which remain favourable despite the explosive attack of 29 June and the wave of media attention that followed. Both government and council were keen to stress that the underlying security statistics have held steady, even as that single incident drew national and international scrutiny.
The debates turned to practical measures, with discussion focused on how much additional funding should go towards human resources and technology for the Monegasque police force. Elected members pressed the princely government on staffing levels and equipment, arguing that visible investment is needed to reassure residents and businesses after an incident of that scale.
For those living or working in Monaco, the outcome of these budget talks will shape how quickly new officers, surveillance tools and other security upgrades reach the force. The government's response to the council's questions is expected to feed into the final budget allocation for policing in the coming year.
