Monaco's Rose Competition Puts Beauty to the Vote

International experts and public voters judge 70 new rose varieties at Princess Grace Rose Garden competition.
The eighth International New Rose Competition took place at Princess Grace Rose Garden, bringing together horticultural excellence from around the globe. Seventy varieties from sixteen growers across eight countries were presented for evaluation, showcasing the latest developments in rose cultivation.
A panel of international experts provided their professional assessment of the competing blooms, examining each variety for qualities such as form, fragrance, disease resistance, and overall garden performance. Their technical expertise offers one perspective on what makes an outstanding rose.
Starting 6th May, members of the public had their chance to cast votes for their favourite varieties. This dual judging system highlights an intriguing aspect of horticultural competitions, where expert opinion and popular appeal don't always align, creating fascinating contrasts in what different audiences find most appealing in these classic garden flowers.
