M2PA announces first funding awards for marine conservation projects in Morocco and Tunisia at Mediterranean forum in Tangier.

The Monaco-headquartered Association for the Sustainable Financing of Mediterranean MPAs has made its debut funding awards, supporting marine protected areas across Morocco and Tunisia.

President Xavier Sticker revealed the milestone grants during the organisation's second Mediterranean Marine Protected Areas Forum, currently taking place in Tangier through 1st December. The four-day gathering brings together conservation experts and stakeholders from across the Mediterranean basin.

The funding marks a significant step forward for M2PA's mission to provide sustainable financial support for marine conservation initiatives throughout the Mediterranean region. The association focuses particularly on helping establish long-term funding mechanisms for protected marine environments.

This inaugural round of grants represents the beginning of M2PA's broader strategy to strengthen marine conservation efforts across North Africa and the wider Mediterranean, building on Monaco's longstanding commitment to ocean protection and environmental stewardship.
