Monaco United women chase treble against Marseille reserves

By Laurent Duval, MonacoViews Editorial

Marco Simone's Monaco United side face Olympique de Marseille's reserve team in the Coupe Méditerranée final on Saturday evening, bidding for a remarkable domestic treble in their first season.

Saturday evening at the Stade Sauvaigo in Cagnes-sur-Mer brings Monaco United's women's team their biggest test yet, a 6pm kick-off against the Olympique de Marseille reserve side in the final of the Coupe Méditerranée féminine.

The club, led by former AS Monaco and Italy striker Marco Simone, has already claimed the District Championship title and the Coupe Marenco this season. A win on Saturday would complete an extraordinary treble in what is only the team's first full campaign.

Simone, long settled on the Côte d'Azur, has spoken of the final as a chance to measure his squad against higher-level opposition. Marseille's reserves draw from a professional academy structure, making this a genuine benchmark for a Monaco side that has otherwise swept all before them at regional level this season.
