The Principality is preparing to host the 19th Council of Europe Conference of Ministers Responsible for Sport on 3 and 4 November 2026, a significant diplomatic and sporting governance event that will bring ministerial delegations from across the continent to Monaco.
At a recent Council of Europe sports experts meeting, Monaco's representatives outlined the organisational groundwork already under way for the conference. Delegates and youth representatives took part in substantive discussions centred on the conference theme - "A safer and healthier sport for all children" - generating proposals that will feed directly into the ministerial decisions adopted here in the autumn.
For residents and the local sporting community, the conference underlines Monaco's role as a serious forum for European policy-making, well beyond its reputation as a venue for major sporting competitions. The decisions reached in November are expected to shape child safeguarding and welfare frameworks in sport across Council of Europe member states.
