Foreign Affairs and Cooperation Minister Isabelle Berro-Amadeï travelled to Paris this week to represent the Principality at the Ninth World Congress Against the Death Penalty, reaffirming Monaco's consistent support for global abolition.
Monaco has maintained this position for many years, regularly participating in international forums on the issue and voting in favour of United Nations resolutions calling for a worldwide moratorium on executions. The Principality itself abolished capital punishment in 1962.
The congress, hosted at the Maison de la Radio et de la Musique, brings together governments, NGOs and legal bodies from across the world to coordinate abolitionist efforts. Monaco's attendance at ministerial level signals that this remains an active foreign policy priority rather than a formality.
