Monaco schools return on 7 and 8 September 2026

By Zak Jackson, MonacoViews Editorial

Primary schools, collèges and lycées across the Principality open their doors on Monday and Tuesday with staggered start times for different year groups.

The summer break ends for Monaco's schoolchildren on Monday 7 September, with primary-age pupils returning first, followed by collège and lycée students on Tuesday 8 September. Start times are staggered across the Principality's public establishments to manage arrivals and ease congestion around school entrances.

Families with children at the Lycée Technique et Hôtelier de Monaco, the Collège Charles III or the primary schools grouped under the Direction de l'Education Nationale de la Jeunesse et des Sports should check the specific schedules issued directly by each institution, as hours differ by year group and site.

Residents in areas close to school zones, particularly around the Condamine and the approaches to Fontvieille, should expect heavier-than-usual traffic on both mornings. The return also marks the resumption of bus routes serving school runs, operated under the CAM network.
