More than 23 per cent of Monaco's school pupils hold an UNSS licence this year, with three local schools qualifying for the French national football championships.
The 2025/2026 school sports season has been a strong one for Monaco, with the Principality's UNSS district recording 682 registered pupils, representing over 23 per cent of all students enrolled across local schools. The figure reflects a growing appetite for competitive sport among the young people living and studying here.
Three schools earned qualification for the UNSS French national football championships: Lycée Albert Ier, Institution François d'Assise Nicolas Barré, and Collège Charles III. Collège Charles III stood out further by claiming a medal at the competition, the highlight of a season that saw Monaco's school sport network punch well above its weight relative to the Principality's size.
The annual prize-giving ceremony, held on 15 June 2026, brought together students, teachers and officials to mark the achievements of the year. The UNSS framework gives Monaco's young athletes a structured pathway into competitive sport at a national level, and this season's results suggest that pathway is producing results.
